About Ms ShortCakes
While other little girls her age were dressing Barbie dolls, she was decorating cupcakes in her mum’s kitchen in Malaysia. While her classmates were experimenting with makeup, she was perfecting recipes from her mother's copies of Woman’s Weekly.

After graduating with an Advertising degree in Melbourne, Ms ShortCakes decided that instead of feeding us cheesy jingles and corny slogans, she would simply well, feed us. She enrolled in the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Sydney, where she soon discovered that she was also very good at cooking on a professional level. Happily, her examiners agreed, and she graduated with a Distinction.

Armed with this endorsement, she went back to Malaysia for a stint in the local kitchens. In 1999, she cooked for Malaysia's Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and all the Cabinet's Ministers as part of Malaysia's Agricultural Expo. A dégustation menu – that’s ‘lots of posh grub’ to you and me - of Malaysia's exotic prime meat was showcased, including ostrich, venison and rabbit.

The science and artistry of pastry work drew Ms ShortCakes into becoming a chef pâtissière. She moved back to Sydney to work in some of the best restaurants and five-star hotels where, 8 years of hard work and determination later, she became a highly skilled professional in the hospitality industry.

Having mastered the art of making cakes taste good, she then set herself another challenge: making them look fantastic. Ms ShortCakes ventured into the world of cake decorating and very quickly proved that she had a knack for transforming cakes into works of edible art.

Since then, she has churned out masterpiece after masterpiece for all occasions, from birthdays to weddings, christenings to anniversaries. Storks, fairies, choo-choo trains and even the occasional body part, you name it, she makes it. In 2006, Ms ShortCakes made a trip to Malaysia to create an engagement cake for a famous local pop princess. The cake was featured in countless magazines and the television broadcast of the ceremony. (She, sadly, was not.)

2012 sees many new and exciting changes for Ms Shortcakes, where the most significant one, is calling Malaysia her home once again. So if you are in KL, get in touch and change your life a little, with one of her made-to-order creations.

After all, what do you do with a cake that’s too pretty to eat, but too delicious not to?
